PIPE

well, the other day i shot some pipe with john symms. i must say he killed it. he is throwing down his best pipe skiing i have seen out of him. highlights include A HUGE ally-oop flat left 5 japan.

too bad the pipe was slush on the left wall and bullet proof on the right wall.

snowboarding is cool

hello all out there in the cyber world. so for the last few days i have been shooting at the Roxy Chicken Jam at park city. they had both slope and pipe with the best girls in snowboarding ripping it up. I was doing all the follow cams for FUEL. good times. i am very tired now though. i did get to see some girls killing it. highlights have to be Torah Bright killing the pipe. she is very good in the pipe. and also Tara Dakides is such a good ripper. she won the slope, and i must say that following here thru the park is like following any guy. pluss she is super nice.

anyway the whole point of this rant is about how much cooler snowboarding is. this was a womens only comp, and it was going off. all the people that were involved are both more chill and more professional than anything i have ever seen in skiing. it was nice to see athletes and industry insiders treating what they do as both a job and what they enjoy. i can't really explain it, but it just all seemed more professional. perhaps it has to do with the fact that there weren't a bunch of kids thinking they are all that running around with no respect for the sport or those around them.

yeah, skiing really has a lot of room to grow.

pro skiers are role models and i just feel that WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE SKIING FOR THE WRONG REASONS.

its hot

well it is going to be 70 in slc again today... and that means that it is in the 60's at pcmr.... so the season is ending very quickly here in utah... the snowpack sucks and is melting throughout. the avy danger is c razy high and all in all this has been the worst winter for snow that i have seen in utah in the 8 years that i have been here.

so, today i am going to meet up with Tosh Peters and shoot some park. 1 day in the park, with tosh, should lead to an entire segment. Tosh is good in the park. see you on the mountain.

looks like there is a storm for wednesday. sweet.

dumont double back

well, as a joke steve rosendal from poor boyz, told simon to do a double backflip in the pipe today. simon had been doing backfilps at the bottem of the pipe for the last few runs. so simon took steve's "joke" serious and did one. he landed in the flats and just flat stomped it. don't know how, but simon always ceases to amaze me in his ability to land from stupid heights and not get smoked. ie the jump in pc. i'm sure you've seen the footy by now.

tank johnson going to jail

Tank Johnson of the bears will searve 120 day for violating his probation. the violation was for having a bunch of guns in his house. why was he on probation you ask? for having assault weapons. Good job tank. you are a 300 lb 6 foot 6 black man, who plays football. why do you need a fucking cache of weapons.....

on time?!

why is it that being on time in the ski industry, or i should say, being late is excepted. However in the "Real" business world it is poor form to be late?


but anyway, just sitting here about to go shoot some pipe at Park City Mountain Resort.

We are shooting with John Symms, freeskier extrordinare this morning. oh and i think there might be a guest apperance from the younger thunder from down under, Byron Wells!
